A new Phd’sEU-Rail publication: Borna Abramović, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at the University of Zagreb: ‘Proposal of the new railway night connection between Prague and Croatian Adriatic Coasts.’ Co-authored with Branislav Greguš and Tomaš Krutilek, the article proposes a new international night train connection between Prague and the Croatian coastal cities of Split and Rijeka.
The study examines long-distance travel (over 1,000 km) within the EU, where reliance on air transport poses major environmental challenges. By analysing train access charges (TAC), infrastructure usage and key transit stations, the article offers a practical and sustainable alternative to air travel. The findings support the EU’s decarbonisation goals and highlight night trains as a key part of Europe’s green mobility future.
